ATP alpha P32 in kinase assay??

Dear kinasers,

I am really new in the world of kinases, and I am
very confused now: all papers which I read until today
referred for the tests kinases to ATP gamma
but in the paper of Lindsay HD, Genes Dev 1998 Feb 1;12(3):382-95
the authors use ATP alpha P32??

Is this possible to use alpha, avantages/disadvantages??

Thank you for your answers
